General Tips for All Jewellery & Accessories
Always remove your jewellery before applying hand sanitiser, cream, perfume, or hairspray.
Refrain from showering, soaking, swimming, or submerging your jewellery in water. Chlorine is particularly damaging.
Gently wipe your jewellery with a soft cloth after wearing. Pay special attention to end caps and clasps, and store it in an airtight container, such as a sealable bag, preferably out of direct sunlight.
Silver, Stirling Silver, Antique Silver, Tibetan Gold and Tibetan Silver - Tarnishing is a natural process where the metal reacts with sulphur in the air, forming a dark film of silver sulphide. This can be remedied by cleaning with a silver polishing cloth or soft cotton cloth and storing in an airtight container if possible.
Brass is prone to tarnishing when exposed to moisture, water, sweat, and harsh chemicals like perfumes, lotions, and cleaning agents. Clean brass jewellery regularly with a mild dish soap and warm water. Store in a dry, cool place, such as a sealable bag.
Regarding Kumihimo, if the braid becomes marked clean with a mild soap by dabbing it with a sponge. The end caps (if applicable) have been secured with waterproof glue, but avoid prolonged soaking. Pat dry with a dry cloth. Once completely dry store in a sealable bag.
